Sub: Monsoon Rainfall in Himachal Pradesh from 1st June to 3rd Aug 2009

 

During this year, the South-west monsoon from 1st June to 3rd Aug 2009 in Himachal Pradesh is 51% below the normal rainfall in HP. The district wise monsoon rain fall from 1st June to 3rd Aug 2009 is shown in Fig-I. In district Bilaspur, Una & Kinnaur the rainfall has become normal due to the good amount of rainfall occurred during past weeks. The other entire districts have less rainfall for the period from 1st June to 3rd Aug 2009.

Fig –II gives the comparative rainfall during the period of 1st June to 2nd Aug w.e.f 2009. In last ten years, the rainfall was also deficit in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007 & 2009. However, the maximum deficit during this period viz from 1st Jun to 2nd Aug was in 2004.

Fig-III shows the weekly rainfall w.e.f 1st week of May 2009, which shows improvement in the rainfall since last 3 weeks. And fig-IV shows the cumulative daily rainfall in HP. And fig-V shows the daily rainfall position in HP for the same period.
